Enough with the NFL, These Real Issues Need Our Attention

Tackstyles saying STFU to the NFL?? The self-proclaimed sports writer extraordinaire has had enough?? Yep, that’s right. I am not underestimating the seriousness of the conflicts currently surrounding the league, but the media coverage has been obsessive and out of bounds, the public figures can’t stop lying, and it’s the only “news” I see on my news feeds. Now, I am in now way an expert in politics, and I will not be lecturing you on who is right and who is wrong, but I am simply just trying to draw attention to some real conflicts around the world, that don’t get enough attention amongst my generation in the states.

*Ebola death toll is predicted at 1.4 million by the end of the year. That’s about equivalent to Vermont and Alaska combined.

*United States and thirty other nations are at war against ISIL/ISIS idk. The bombing started a couple of nights ago, and supposedly they were succesful. One cool note, I saw on TV that the US bombed a norther Iraqi town that was a safe haven for the rebels after they forced the inhabitants to leave. Everything was destroyed, except the Mosque that was built by the original civilians of that town.

*Typhoons and Monsoons all over Southeast Asia

*California is dealing with a 3 year “record” drought that caused the worst mudslide in 10 years, and ” is afflicting California with increased wildfires, crop losses, water shortages and spikes in air pollution.” http://www.latimes.com/science/la-me-drought-glacier-melt-20140923-story.html

*Death toll of the floods in India climbs to 500. With more than 12 million people being displaced, and 100 towns submerged.

*In some good news, there has been significant “pullback” of Russian troops from Ukraine. However, it came at a price. Ukraine signed a deal that gave the eastern regions of the country more autonomy. Basically, this means that those regions are self-ruled, and the “self” in those areas are the rebels forces.

*Climate change is still being unnoticed and underestimated by basically everyone. The Great Leo said it best

I’m sure I missed many other serious issues (South America didn’t get any love), but we should all try to pay attention just a littleeeee more. You never know what you can learn, and you never know what you can do to help, unless you know the issues.
