The administration at Rockport High School in northern Massachusetts banned yoga pants last thursday. The policy had been in the student handbook, but they just decided to start enforcing it. The policy states that tight leggings used for yoga are banned on school grounds because they are a distraction and, “do not contribute to a productive learning culture.” What do they know about culture??
Students at Rockport High were not going to let this happen. Guys like yoga pants for the obvious reasons, the buns look maginificient, and girls like yoga pants because they are comfortable…and they probably like the attention as well.
On Friday of that week, many girls decided they were going to wear yoga pants anyway. At first, the school was sending girls home to change, but after realizing that yoga pants are part of youth culture, they backed off their policy. They decided to let students wear yoga pants, and form a committee to revisit the dress code policy at a later time. Rockport High School guys let out a sigh of relief, and culture was restored.
Morale of the Story: Dont let “the man” ruin your culture!
