Rapper, singer, and Burgah slayer, Frank Ocean, is being sued by TufAmerica for illegal samples in his song, “Super Rich Kids,” featuring Earl Sweatshirt. TufAmerica is the same label that had declared lawsuits against famous rappers like the Beastie Boys, Jay-Z and Kanye West.
In the song, Frank Ocean sings the words “real love.” These words are what is causing all the controversy. TufAmerica claims that Frank illegal sampled this from the song “Impeach The President” by the Honeydrippers. Frank originally sampled this from the Mary J. Blige “Real Love,” but it turns out that Mary had also illegally sampled from the Honeydrippers.
This is some serious detective work here by the mushes at TufAmerica. They haven’t stated how much they are hoping to win in the case, but one can only guess that they are going for all the PLEYS. Good luck Franky, nothing a couple of burgahs can’t fix.
