Many opinions are flying around about the first openly gay player, Michael Sam, being able to successfully be part of team in the NFL. Herm Edwards suggests that he, “brings baggage,” and one college football recruit tweeted:
However, there are men who have stood up to the bigots who are trying to stop Michael Sam from reaching his dreams.
Robert Kraft, owner of the Patriots, has always used his powerful voice it to be a guiding light on controversial issues. When asked if he would draft Michael Sam, Mr. Kraft responded,
“If Sam can play, then I’d be happy for him to be doing his playing for the Patriots. We’re about winning, and anyone who can come in here and help us win, I personally don’t care what their ethnic background is, their racial background, their gender preference. If they can help us win, and they’re about team first, then I’m happy to have him here.”
Robert Kraft said it best, his sexual orientation doesn’t matter, as long as he can help the team win. But, maybe that’s just the Patriot Way.
I just want Robert Kraft to give me advice on every single dilemma of my life. He always knows the right thing to do, and always puts its so simply. I mean, Mr. Kraft even single handedly saved the NFL from a lockout!
