Legendary Newton North High School basketball manager with special needs scores at the TD Banknorth Garden

Brendan Durkin, a 20 year old special needs student scored a basket against Newton North’s across town rival Newton South. If you don’t think it can get better than that…it does. He did it on the same stage Larry Bird, Paul Pierce, and Brian Scalabrine all did as well, the Boston Garden. Brendan Durkin deserves that stage and nothing worse. He devotes a lot of his time to the Newton North basketball team and Newton North gave him this great opportunity. This is something that will leave a smile on Brendan Durkin’s face for years. He even had a chance to face the media and gave some pretty good answers at the press conference (video below). I get the chance to see Durkin at school for lunch and I can’t wait to hear him tell me the story of scoring a basket on the same court the Celtics play on.
Congratulations Durkin, there’s no bigger baller in the world than you.
